Questions

Are the names saved anywhere?

Only in this browser, on this device. Nothing is sent to our server, and names never go into the page address.

How many names can it split?

Up to 1,000, enough for a whole grade or a full Im Here! room. Paste a longer list and only the first 1,000 are used.

Can I keep two people apart?

Yes. Open Keep apart / keep together and add a pair, or a whole set of names that should all land in different groups. Keep together works the same way for partners who should stay side by side. If a rule can’t be met with the split you picked, the generator says so and offers a split that works.

What happens with leftover names?

With “Spread them out”, the extra names join existing groups, so 26 names in groups of 4 become two groups of 5 and four groups of 4. With “Smaller group”, they form one smaller group of their own.

Can I print the groups?

Yes. Press Print for one page with a card per group, or save it as a PDF. Copy groups gives you plain text to paste into a doc, a chat, or your slides, and Present shows them full screen on a projector.

Can I move someone after shuffling?

Drag a name to another group, or on a phone tap the name and then Move here. If a move breaks one of your keep-apart rules, the name gets an orange outline so you notice, but the move still stands. Pin a name to keep it in its group the next time you shuffle.
